– Congratulations on purchasing a new Sharp TV. This video will walk you through the steps to remove your new TV from its packaging without damage so you can start enjoying it right away.
If you watch this video and follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully, you will avoid common mistakes like pinching the screen, which can easily cause it to crack. Your TV may not be the exact model shown in this video, but just like the box shown here, your box is designed for opening the top and lifting the TV out.
For TVs larger than 32 inches, we always recommend using two people. Also, be sure to prepare a soft, clean surface like a table covered by a blanket or towel that’s large enough to lay your TV onto before lifting the TV from the box.
Use a box cutter or sharp knife to cut the tape on the top of the box. With the top open, look for accessories like instruction manuals, remote controls and batteries, or anything else that can be removed.
Take all of that out and set it aside. Remove the top cushion and any other accessible packing. If you find other accessories, such as cables or the TV stand, set those aside as well.
Look for the two plastic clips on the lower part of the front and back of the box. Release all four clips by squeezing and pulling away from the box.
Next, hold the top part of the box by each end and lift directly up, over the top of the TV, which will stay upright because of the packaging base. Carefully reach into the box as low as you can and take hold of the TV with both hands.
On smaller TVs place one hand on each side and lift. Lift the TV from the packaging base and re-grip as needed to support the weight from the bottom. If you have a helper, each one of you should put one hand as low as you can while the other hand lifts and balances from above.
Some TVs may have a ridge or lip. You can use this ridge to help lift and balance the TV, but make sure not to pinch the screen with your thumb and fingers. Certain models use padding or screen covers to help prevent damage, but you should always hold it only by the edges when lifting.
You’ve probably been told to never lay your TV flat. That’s true during transportation and unboxing, but now that we’re on to attaching the stand, you will need to lay it flat, per the included instructions.
Once you’ve lifted the TV out of the box, set it face down on the soft, clean surface you prepared. Sharp TVs have several stand styles. Be sure to follow the instructions in your stand assembly or Quick Start Guide.
Use the provided hardware for the best results and remember not to over-tighten screws. With your stand securely attached, lift the TV using a grip similar to what you used to lift the TV from its box.
Place it upright on the console you’re going to use and be careful not to pinch the screen. If you’re going to mount your TV, be sure to use a kit that matches your TV’s size and weight and anchor it securely into the wall.
