(upbeat electronic music) – I’m Andru Edwards, and you’re watching Gear Live. I’ve recently been giving you a look at different pieces of smart home tech to help you build out the ultimate smart home. I’m talking about smart locks, smart lights, smart thermostats, smart doorbells, and a whole lot more.
Today, we’re going outside of the box as we check out the Depict Frame, a smart photo frame that displays the best art in the world right in your home, controllable from your smartphone. By the way, big shout out to Depict for sending over their flagship 49 inch display and for sponsoring this video.

As I mentioned, today we are taking a look at the Depict Photo Frame. If you’ve been watching me for any length of time, you know I’m into smart home tech. I’m into tech in general, but I really like when tech allows you to go outside the box, when tech thinks differently, and when tech can make things smart that you probably never thought should be smart or would be smart in the first place.
So if you’re like me, when you first see Depict, you’re probably thinking, “We’ve already had photo frames. “We’ve already been able “to control photo frames for many years. “Why do we need something new in this space?” That’s what I’m here to answer for you in this video.
The Depict Frame is a 49 inch, 4K display, housed in a great looking wood casing, which you can get in either black or white. The large size and ultra HD resolution of the frame isn’t the only thing that makes it well suited to display artwork.
It also sports museum quality color accuracy and a matte finish that’s optimized for viewing both fine art and moving images. Getting set up is actually easier than I thought it would be. Depict includes everything you need to mount the frame right in the box.
You have the Depict mounting plate with a built in level, four standard screws, four wood screws, four wall anchors, a 10 foot power cord, and you do wanna make sure that you hang the frame by an outlet because it does need to be plugged in.
And lastly, of course, in the box, you’ll find the Depict Frame itself. As for what’s not included in the box, you will need to supply your own drilL, but that’s about it. All you need to do is drill the mounting plate into your desired location, get someone to help you hang the frame on the wall mount, plug it in, turn it on and download the Depict app in order to complete installation.
Now, one of my favorite features about the Depict Frame is that not only can you hang it in a landscape orientation, which is how you probably hang the majority of photos out there. Although, some of them are portrait, but it doesn’t matter with the Depict Frame because it easily swivels and switches from a portrait orientation to a landscape orientation and back.
So whichever way you wanna look at your art or as you change the art on the frame, you can easily swivel it to optimize what you’re looking at. Let’s talk about the art that’s available to you to display on the frame.
After you set up the frame, you get access to Depict free. This gives you unlimited viewing of free Art of the Month, which includes a handful of different images. You can also preview premium art for five minutes at a time and even set a slideshow of the free art.
You can also display any of your own photos right on the frame as well, but for those who want more art, or for those who are more discerning or for those who find value in having a bigger collection of art, there is also Depict Premium.
The $20 per month Depict Premium gives you unlimited viewing of all the premium artwork in the Depict collection. This translates to hundreds of different art pieces that you can display right on your frame.
Now, the 49 inch Depict Frame does sell for $899, and you do have to pay a $75 flat shipping fee, as well, bringing the total price to $974. Everything about the frame is high quality, and if you’re into displaying fine art, it’s kind of a no brainer.
Of course, the price tag may come across as steep to many, especially considering that you do have to pay an extra $240 per year to access the Depict Premium collection. That said, Depict truly does allow you to transform a room with art as often as you’d like without having to buy multiple pieces and having to constantly hang up and remove static photos.
The fact that you can display your own photos and even create playlists of art to be displayed right on the frame is a big win. That’s a nice bonus, as well. If you do wanna give Depict a try, orders can be returned within 30 days for a full refund on the price of the frame, and that’s a great policy because I do think once people get Depict into their homes, if they’re on the fence, once it’s installed and once it’s turned on, the product speaks for itself.
And it’s impressive enough that I think once you have it on the wall, you’re not gonna wanna take it off the wall. There you have it, guys, that was your look at the Depict Frame, available now. Head over to Depict.
com, I will leave that link down in the description below in case you wanna go check it out. Again, $899 for the frame, $75 for shipping. You do get access to Depict free. The free Depict service with purchase, and you also have the option to pay 20 bucks a month to access Depict Premium to get access to hundreds of still and moving art.
If you enjoyed this one, do drop a like on this video. Let me know down in the comments below what you think of Depict. Is this something you’d wanna add to your smart home? Do you think it’s as unique as I think? Because I’m pretty into this product.
